The 2021 annual meeting was called to order by President, Perry England, via Team meetings online.
Merrilee stated that the final project of the sinkhole repair and dredging by the City of Bellevue will take place during the winter of 2021. It was mentioned that we should have a work party if the sinkhole becomes a problem this summer. She also reviewed the list of completed improvement projects for the past two years and covered the Financial Statement for the year up to April 30, 2021.
It was suggested that the swim platform carpet cover be replaced. This will be done when we pull the platform up onto the beach for the winter. At that time, the entire platform will be checked for any needed repairs. Thanks to John and Alexander Raffetto for replacing the swim ladder.
In order to make it easier to use the new rack for watercraft, handles will be added to the watercraft. It was suggested that we start replacing the aging watercraft that we have and get lighter paddleboards and kayaks. This plan will be phased in. It was suggested that we get more sand for the beach area. This will also be beneficial in the area used to transport the watercraft instead of on the rocky beach. Roger suggested screening the sand, which could be done to take advantage of what is already there.
An improved retaining wall and patio repair are planned for in the future. The playground may need to be replaced because older and heavier kids have been using it in spite of the signs asking them not to. Roger will check to see if the structure can be strengthened. It was determined that there are a number of younger children in the neighborhood, so that a playground or swing set should be a priority.
It was asked if we should do something about the open area with our neighbor to the south, leaving people total access to that property. We will find out if there is a fence planned or whether we should put in some more planter boxes.
Graffiti in the tunnel has been painted over again. The question was raised whether we should have new access codes issued every year and whether we should get a newer lock system. Access codes are replaced or changed for home sales or if someone’s code is compromised. The gate lock was just replaced, so no replacements will be made for a while.
Cathy demonstrated the new website that she has just set up for SammamishBeachClub.com. She was thanked for doing a great job.
