The meeting was called to order by President, Perry England, at his home due to the weather. Introductions were made of all in attendance.
Perry gave a report of completion of the City of Bellevue’s work on the hillside and beachfront. Dredging in the lake was completed on both properties (ours & Bortkos’ to the north), the storm drain pipe was shortened, rocks were installed for better drainage under the deck, lattice fencing was installed under the deck and plantings were put in among the rocks.
Merrilee reviewed the financial report and said that dues were $120 this year to give a slight compensation for the disruption of the hillside disaster and closure of the Beach Club for dredging. Payments are due by June 1, 2022.
In giving a report of work done and purchases made, Roger Childs and Elaine Childs were thanked for all of their hard work in maintaining the Beach Club and pathway. Paddles and vests have been purchased, as well as kayak & paddleboard handles, a new grill cover, burner replacement parts and BBQ tools.
Improvements or equipment that are planned for this year include:
- Swim platform to get new decking, carpeting and an anchor. John will be asking for help with installing an anchor.
- New kayak – double sit-on-top
- 2 new lighter-weight paddleboards
- Computer system update for gate lock – Vibhor is looking into this
- Laurel tree removed which is hanging over the neighbors’ roof
- Plantings along the south border
Perry reported that he had checked into a bid from Slab Jack to repair the patio, but the failing retaining wall and invasive bamboo present a problem. He will get further bids, including NW Concrete Cutting for possible replacement in the future. It was suggested that we have sketches of possible plans and pictures posted at the Annual Barbecue.
Arlene Oom’s suggestion that we send out a bi-yearly newsletter was accepted, and she will be in charge of that project. Cathy Relyea offered to set up Nextdoor.com for the Sammamish Beach Club membership area. Everyone is invited to use: https://nextdoor.com/g/cuw3ggddg/
We will be hiring a teenage member to do nightly clean-up/security checks.
All existing Board members have agreed to remain on the Board. According to our By-laws, we need to have 9 members. Cathy Relyea was nominated to be on the Board, and the vote in favor was passed unanimously.
ANNUAL BARBECUE – SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2022 AT 4:00 PM
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Merrilee George
